I will run I will live

His words rang in her mind –
“I never loved you” .
She closed her ears,
To escape the silent screams
From her past.

She thought he loved her,
His maneuvers – all lies?
Sasha’s party, uncle Mole had said –
“You are the one a man will want as a spouse, a lover and as a friend”.

She became a recluse.
For he said he will burn her face if she removes her veil;
She did as he wished;
A sex slave, she remained in the shackles
Till he left her for another woman.

She sat in silence, contemplating suicide.
Until a glaring voice spoke loud within her –
“Fight it out woman, you need to live”.

Looking at her shadow, she rose.
She stumbled, the shadows mocked –
“Tired or scared?”

Smiling she said to the starlit sky –
“I cannot die as I need to live for you;
I am alive that is my revenge
I survived though I was betrayed
I am proud you hated me man
I will now run like a fire along
The path where you left me,
I will run, I will live.”
